Granada Little League Division Guide (2026)

Futures Division (League Age 4)

The Futures Division (formerly Rookie) is our entry-level program designed specifically for 4-year-olds new to baseball. Players are introduced to the game in a fun, energetic, and nurturing environment that prioritizes physical activity, social interaction, and developing motor skills.

  • Practices are short, engaging, and game-based.

  • Emphasis is on movement, teamwork, and listening.

  • Coaches lead all in-game instruction “on the field”.

  • No official scores, standings or postseason play.

T-Ball Division (League Age 5)

T-Ball builds on the foundation laid in Futures or serves as a great starting point for first-time 5-year-old players. Players hit from a tee and begin learning the basic flow of a game, including base running, fielding, and throwing.

  • Coaches lead all in-game instruction “on the field”.

  • Every player bats each inning, and defensive rotations are encouraged.

  • No official scores, standings or postseason play.

Prospects Division (League Ages 6–7)

This division introduces coach pitch while offering tee rescue to build confidence at the plate. It’s designed for returning players or beginners at this age who are ready for more structure and challenge.

  • Players learn batting stance, glove work, field positioning, and game flow.

  • Batters face coach-pitched balls and transition toward faster decision-making.

  • Games begin to introduce outs and inning limits.

  • No official scores, standings or postseason play.

  • Note: 7 year old players new to Granada Little League will be placed in the prospect division.

Farm Division (League Ages 7–8)

Farm bridges the gap between introductory divisions and competitive play. The first half of the season is coach pitch, while the second half introduces kid pitch in a low-pressure setting.

  • Kids begin pitching, learning strike zones, and handling live game scenarios.

  • Defensive players begin understanding positions and responsibilities.

  • Field awareness and teamwork take priority.

  • No official scores, standings or postseason play.

Single A (Minors) Division (League Ages 8–9)

Single A is a hybrid division that blends coach pitch and player pitch depending on game situations. It’s the first division with evaluations and drafts, preparing players for structured team placement.

  • Players begin learning how to pitch to hitters and make in-game decisions.

  • Situational awareness and skill consistency are emphasized.

  • 9 year old players not selected by a AA team will be allocated spots in this division, Remaining spots to be filled by 8 year old players based on manager evaluations.

  • No official scores, standings or postseason play.

AA (Minors) Division (League Ages 9–10)

AA is the first full player-pitch division, where players pitch all innings and assume full defensive roles. The emphasis shifts toward competitive gameplay while continuing skill development.

  • Players learn pitch counts, walks, strikeouts, and base stealing rules.

  • Coaches begin to step back, letting players take more control of the game.

  • 10 year old players not selected by a AAA team will be allocated spots in this division, Remaining spots to be filled by 9 year old players based on manager evaluations.

  • No season standings, Playoffs determine a Division Champion, with seeding by random draw.

  • Division Champion will represent GLL by competing in District level post season play.

AAA (Minors) Division (League Ages 10–11)

AAA prepares players for Majors-level baseball with full rules, competitive strategy, and emphasis on team roles. Players are evaluated and drafted, and teams play with standard Little League structure.

  • Emphasis on pitch command, defensive execution, and situational hitting.

  • Players are expected to know field positions, signs, and game flow.

Upper Division

Intermediate, Junior and Senior Divisions

Granada Little League will provide all of our players with the best venue to further their baseball interests and ultimately reach their goals of playing high school baseball.  We are dedicated to not only the baseball development of our players, but also the personal development and growth of all of the young men in our program.

Our youth teams and the development of our youth players is of the utmost importance to us as an organization.  The Upper Division consists of three levels described below:

Intermediate Players: Players who are league age 13 are eligible to be selected to an Intermediate (50/70) Division team for the regular season. If a league aged 12 year old player is not selected for the Gold Team, they are required to play in the Majors Division.

  • The Intermediate (50/70) League Division team consists of a House Team and a Gold Team.  At the end of the season, leagues may form All-Star teams which will compete in the LLB Intermediate League All-Star tournament. The winner of the district level of the tournament gets an automatic bid to the Intermediate LLWS which is held in Livermore each year.

Junior League Players: Players who are league age 13 and 14 are eligible to be selected to a Junior League Division team for the regular season. The Junior League competes against teams within their boundaries, and District 57 schedules games between the teams. This program features both an 80' and a 90' program.  Junior League teams schedule consists of approximately 15 to 25 games.

  • The Junior League consists of a House Team and a Gold Team.  At the end of the season, the league may create All-Star teams to compete in the LLB Junior League All-Star Tournament, which is played on the 90' diamond.

Senior League Players: Players who are league age 15-16 are eligible to be selected to a Senior League Division team for the regular season. The Senior League program offers Granada Little League players to play amongst other District 57 teams.  If warranted, and with LLB approval, LLL and GLL may combine to field a team if insufficient numbers of players are available to form an individual team.

  • The Senior League consists of a House Team and a Gold Team. Senior League teams schedule consists of approximately 15 to 25 games. At the end of the season, the league may create AllStar teams to compete in the LLB Senior League AllStar Tournament. In addition to registration, each family will be required to meet the volunteer requirements and/or pay the Opt Out fee.

What is the difference between a House Team and a Gold Team?

House Team

The House team is a competitive recreational program. Our house teams accommodate the less skilled and still developing player who wants to continue baseball beyond Little League. There are player evaluations and teams will be selected with the goal of creating competitive balance, with no cuts. Evaluations will be held near the end of January. House teams will play in the local league against other house teams for a schedule of approximately 13 to 20 games. House teams are coached by parent volunteers. Other than registration, there is no additional team fee, however, each family will be required to meet the volunteer requirements and/or pay the Opt Out fee.

Gold Team

This is a competitive team, designed for the all-star caliber player with advanced skills. Players must try out and be selected for these teams, and a greater time commitment will be required of the players than for a House team. Gold teams will play in the District 57 league against other Gold level teams. Gold teams schedule consists of approximately 15 to 25 games. The spring season runs from approximately January to June.
