Granada Little League, All Star Voting Policy

All rules that pertain to District 57 Tournament at any level as outlined by Little League Baseball, Inc., either in the Official Regulations & Playing Rules, the Operating Manual, or any other Official Publication will supersede any policy.

A. Player Eligibility

A player must have played in at least 60% of the scheduled games during the season to be eligible. Sixty percent of games include post-season play. (I.e. a player who joined the team mid-season, or who was ill or injured and did not play in at least 60% of the games, would not be eligible.)
Player must not have reached stage 3 (Third Notice) of the disciplinary process during the season. The Player Agent and League President will ensure that this rule is strictly enforced.

GLL has an all-star team for each age group: 9, 10, 11 and 12 year-olds. While Little League International allows for age ranges at each level, GLL has a history of keeping these teams age pure, meaning each team is made up entirely of players in that age group. This is not an official policy and exceptions may be made under unique circumstances.

B. Selection Process

Manager Selection

Managers wanting to manage an All Star Teams will communicate their interest to the Board through the Manager Representative. The Board will review the recommendations, and final selections will be heavily weighted by Parent/Player evaluations and Umpire feedback. The selected Manager will be allowed to select his/her supporting Coaches after the announcement of the All Star team rosters. Once again, Board approval is required and the Coaches will be approved based on the same criteria as the Manager.

The Managers for the All Star teams should come from the Divisions from which the majority of players from that team come. To be eligible to be the Manager of an All Star team you must have been a Manager or coach during the regular season. To be one of the two assistant coaches on an All Star team you must have been either a Manager or one of the recognized Coaches during the regular season.

2.Player Selection

The All Star teams are intended to represent the best players available to put together competitive team to play in post season play. In order to achieve the best opportunity for success, lower division teams will be age pure for each age group. Each team will consist of 1 Manager and 2 Coaches, and between 12-14 players based on the outcome of All Star voting.

- 11 year-old & 12 year-old teams are formed by both player vote & coach vote and only players on a Majors and up roster who appeared in 60% of their teams games are eligible.

- For each age group the players will vote in SIX (6) players and the managers/coaches will vote in FOUR (4).

- An All Star Manager will then be selected [by the President of GLL in consultation with representatives from the Board] from this group of 10 players who are voted in.

- Each age groups manager will then select 2-4 players from al list* given to him/her by the Executive Board.

*This list is determined solely on the basis of total votes received meaning managers will choose from the 4 highest vote receivers not already on the team. This will equate to players 11-14 in vote totals since players 1-10 will have already been placed on the team.

12 year-old players in majors and up will vote for up to eight 12 year-old players, the top SIX (6) of which will make the team. Players cannot vote for themselves or anyone on their own team.

11 year-old players in majors and up will vote for up to eight 11 year-old players, the top SIX (6) of which will make the team. Players cannot vote for themselves or anyone on their own team.

- Each manager will cast their own ballot and one ballot is cast from each teams group of assistant coaches – meaning 2 ballots are cast per team. Coaches will vote for up to 12 players at each age group. The top four (4) players at each age group not already voted in by the players will then make the team. 9 year-old & 10 year-old teams are formed entirely by coach vote and only players on a AAA roster who appeared in 60% of their teams games are eligible.

- For each age group the managers/coaches will vote in TEN (10) players.

- An All Star Manager will then be selected [by the President of GLL in consultation with representatives from the Board] from this group of 10 players who are voted in.

- Each age groups manager will then select 2-4 players from al list* given to him/her by the Executive Board.

*This list is determined solely on the basis of total votes received meaning managers will choose from the 4 highest vote receivers not already on the team. This will equate to players 11-14 in vote totals since players 1-10 will have already been placed on the team.
